Sound Of Silence

I can hear the sound of silence
Whispering in the stillness of the night.
Dark clouds gather overhead
Blocking out the last few rays of light.

As I glance out over the water
I become engulfed in a dusky pink hue.
Gone are the daytime colours
Of various shades of blue.

I sit quietly watching
The many reflections dancing on the sea.
There's nothing but the eerie sound of silence
Slowly surrounding me.

I reach out to catch this moment
As it echoes in the night.
I watch as it flickers above the water
Like a flashing neon light.

Now was the time to search within my soul
For the many mistakes I had made.
Surrounded by the many sounds of silence
I bowed my head and prayed.
