Return To Innocence

How many of us as we grow old
Can face up to the error of our ways?
As we search for peace and forgiveness
And a return to our innocent days.

On this unwinding path of life
We have encountered both faith and love.
Travelled through hope and despair
Seeking guidance from above.

From the day we arrived on this planet
And stepped cautiously into the sun.
Have we been all we could have been?
Done all we should have done?

So as we look back on this circle of life
As it travels on it's endless round.
We see our days quietly drawing to an end
And a return to innocence found.

As we grow older and enter our golden years we have
time to sit back and reflect on our lives.
Are there many things we could have done better?
If we had a chance to do them again would we now
be wiser in our choices?
It is during our Golden years that we tend to look back to our
childhood days trying to discover once more
the innocence we once knew.
