Misunderstood

Have you ever been misunderstood
Because your words were taken the wrong way?
Do you ever feel like tearing your hair out
Because honesty just does not seem to pay?

Do you ever feel you should hide your thoughts
And keep your mouth tightly shut?
Because when you show care and concern
You just end up flat on your butt

Do you ever feel no matter how hard you try
The words never seem to come out right?
And what you said for all the right reasons
Ends up causing an enormous fight.

Does it leave you totally confused
So that you wish you had just stayed in bed?
Will you now always button your lip
And not voice those thoughts in your head?

Perhaps we may learn a lesson from this poem
But I very much doubt that we will
We'll continue to open our mouth's just as before
Never knowing when to button it still

Kaye Stubbington

How often in life do we open our mouth only to wish
we had kept it tightly shut.
Although our words may be spoken out of care and concern
they have a nasty habit of back firing on us.
We have all done it at some time or other...but do we ever learn?
The answer to that has to be a big NO.
