Where did friendship go?
Is it lost inside a cloud?
Or is it somewhere watching
On the fringes of a crowd?

Once it was substantial
Beaming bright and strong.
All it needed was a sweet smile
To carry it along.

Then suddenly it disappeared
Who knows why or where?
Leaving only such an emptiness
And loneliness to bear.

No words were ever uttered
No explanations given.
On why two souls were parted
Or why two lives were riven.

Now each go their separate ways
Onward through life's ebb and flow.
Always left with wondering
Where did friendship go?
